Over the holidays, Gllen upgraded his workspace by adding two wide screen monitors. The procurement of these was the beginning of what we now call Craigslist Adventures.
The very first monitor, was located in Woodbury. Of course, that means nothing to Gllen, so I was employed to drive him out there. Employed is the wrong word... I was not paid for this. So, we drove out to some house in the middle of a newly developed neighborhood. As we pulled up to the mini McMansion, I was wondering out loud who lived here. I had pictured middle aged, paunch belly, executive-type.
The garage door opened and this young, good looking man in his early thirties/late twenties walked out of the house. This was not what I was expecting. This guy looked cool. He waved to us. He shook Gllen's hand. He chatted amicably. He was cool, and he was nice.
I waited in the car for at least 7 minutes before Gllen came back and loaded up the car. This guy even helped him carry stuff out and organize everything so it fit in the trunk. When we left, I immediately started seeking out the gossip. I peppered Gllen with questions, "Who was he? What's his house like? Is it nice inside? Do you know what he does for a living? Does he have kids?" IMO, seven minutes is enough time to get a life story... (Unless you're Gllen.)
Surprisingly, he was able to answer a few of my questions. Turns out, this guy is a DEVELOPER. And he codes in the same programming languages that Gllen does.
The possibilities swam before my eyes. In awe, I breathed, "That guy could be YOU. But friendlier, and with a house."
