Lesson Learned

Oh, lord, I should know better by now. No home improvement project after 7pm.

Last weekend, I embarked on a project to transform our dreary hallway to the bedroom into a show-stopping, conversation-starting masterpiece. It is all of these things. But Gllen almost ruined it all.

On Friday, I didn't get around to painting until later in the evening. I was being extremely lazy, instead of shopping for Black Friday deals. So, I started to put on a second coat of paint around 7pm.

At about 7:30, Gllen wandered my way to use the bathroom and check out what I was doing. He wandered straight into the wall. Thankfully, I had painted the portion earlier, so it had some time to dry. I screamed at Gllen to be careful.

He seemed contrite, but then he didn't head the warning two seconds later when he tried to turn around, and swayed all over the place. It was then that I noticed the beer in his hand. "You can't be drinking when I'm painting!!!!"

He LOL'd at me and went to the bathroom. I waited until he came out and then warned him some more. He thought it would be funny to scare me by swerving about on his way out. It was not funny. He almost tipped over.

After that, I was kicking myself for painting such a high traffic area when Gllen was going to be frequenting the bathroom all night. In the end, I taped a CAUTION sign in front of the hallway, just to remind him to be careful. But that didn't seem to be much better, because he's so freaking tall that he had to keep ducking under it, meaning more chance for balance issues.

He did manage to stay upright for the rest of the night. Somehow.
