The day started with a phone call from Clausen Service Center. The tire was completely destroyed. So I told them to go ahead and put on two new tires. (I guess it's a general rule that you shouldn't replace just one.) Let me just say that John Clausen is awesome. He got the work done in an hour. So, I braved the 3 degree weather, got on a bus and went to pick up the car. Not only did they replace the tires, they rotated and balanced them at no charge, so that the new tires were in front. If anyone in the Uptown area needs car service, I won't hesitate to recommend Clausen's now. So, now the van is safely parked in front of the house.
Just in case anyone is wondering, here's a list of the total cost of the van debacle:
$100 - Tow Charge
$1.75 - Bus Fare
$212.25 - New Tires
Grand Total = $314
Yet to be determined - My inconvenience charge. That could be expensive.
