Room Names

So, we've been living at our house now for a little over two months now... but it only took a few weeks for Gllen to come up with nicknames for all the rooms. Ok, not all of them - there's the standard guest room, bedroom, office, kitchen, etc. We even have a room we are calling the Library, which sounds very sophisticated. But there are two rooms that have been given a Gllen nickname... The basement, and the second bedroom upstairs. The basement is a little bit of a no-brainer - he was already craving one for two years now... so that's called "The Lair".

The second bedroom took a while to put together. It had some awful rough wood panels and I painted every surface. Many people have commented on the hotel-like feeling of the room since the the toilet and shower are in a little room and the sink is in the bedroom. We decided to use it as a big closet and I put in a chair and tv to use while I get ready in the morning. When I was putting the finishing touches on the room, Gllen walked in and said, "Ooooh! Someone has a fancy Princess Mansion!". So yah, that's now what it's called.

And of course, there's "The Most Precious Real Estate In The House" - AKA, the kitchen counter.

New Year's Resolution: BLOG MORE!

Hey, guess what!? We moved! Yep, I finally bought a house, after a year of planning and waiting and vision boarding and agonizing and... you get the drift. So, my blog has suffered a small bit of neglect as we literally were swept away by the process and had only 2 weeks from the acceptance of our offer until closing. Since then we've been working like mad on freshening up the place, and of course, packing up our apartment and moving all the boxes and furniture into the new house - which, BTW, is right across the street from our friends, The Ricketts!

Gllen has already started some fun new habits now that we have a new place. I'm sure you remember me telling you about nicknames that he has given me over the years. Currently, I'm being called "Girf" (sounded out as JERF) or some variation on that theme, like "Girf and Turf" or "Girpy-Girp". Well, now that we are in a much bigger place, with three actual levels, Gllen can't always find me. So, he has taken to wandering about the house and chirping out "Girf!" until he finds me. It's very quiet, to the point where sometimes I don't know if it's him or a tiny bird begging for food.

So, of course, I've taken to chirping out "Birf!" in response until he radars in on me.

More to come soon, as we settle in - I finally have a computer again - (that's another story!) and I'll try to keep everyone up to date on our new adventures.
